- The only forested ecological corridor that exists between the Rotorua lakes and the sea.
- The important landscape features are recognised as a regional ecological asset.
The Manawahe Eco Trust is dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of the Manawahe Ecological Corridor and educating the next generation of environmental stewards. Our mission focuses on improving native forest habitats and safeguarding threatened species like the kōkako, with support from local volunteers. We also run an environmental education program for school-aged children, inspiring them to make a positive impact on their environment. Through conservation and education, we strive to preserve this vital ecosystem and ensure a sustainable future for our community
