An ideal programme for senior students in primary school to learn environmental education. This can be provided as a rotation for a camp. Programmes can be tailored to the age of the students and the requirements of their studies – this is just an example.
Welcome:
- Introduction to conservation in Manawahe

Morning Rotations in groups of 10 students :
Typically, 3 rotations are chosen for one session. Schools that come for more than one day can choose different rotation activities on different days.
- Predator control
- Tree leaves treasure hunt
- Conservation work
- Game: Rules of the forest
- Archery
- Weta house building
- Flying fox
- Game: predator attack
Whole class activity in the afternoon:
One activity is chosen for each afternoon.
- Nature walk in conservation bush block
- Raft building competitions at Lake Rotoma
- Sports of the field
- Relay races
- Nature quiz
Optional Evening Programme:
The evening program is the responsibility of the school as the educator leaves around 5pm.
Some suggestions for the evening program:
- Campfire with songs and marshmallows
- Evening walk
- Movie on the big screen
- Game: Spot light
